Move!

Maybe you say this to your children when they’re in the way. This word may bring to mind a time when you decided to move from one location to the next. How about that election we just had? Are you sulking because your candidate lost? Maybe you’ve been wanting to begin reading the Bible or to attend church. This word may entice you to move forward with a decision you’ve been toying with. Should I stay or should I go? Perhaps deciding to exercise is what you think about when you see this word. Look. It’s never good to sit there and do nothing when you feel the pull of the Holy Spirit. It takes me a while to first, decide if I’m even hearing the word from God. Secondly, if after deciding that He is asking me to move forward, will I actually get up off the cushy couch of life? If you are comfortable, there will, no doubt, be a lot of grunting and groaning to push yourself to stand. Now, if your couch is lumpy or hard, you’re in business. But we don’t buy lumpy or hard couches, do we? We buy comfortable ones, but over time, they become less so. What are you going to do? Will you start that business? Will you let go of that ungodly person who’s draining all of your energy? How about squats instead of social media? Lettuce instead of Lay’s? Will you save instead of spend? It’s up to you. Here’s what the apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:13: Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
