word for today

Old wounds from trauma: The death of a child, parent, or spouse, a divorce, various types of assault; these unhealed hurts are life-stealers if we don’t deal critically with them. We’ve all experienced events that continue to trigger us. But we know we’re not healed when those triggers produce symptoms: Paranoia, anxiety, depression, or other unexplained health issues. Similarly, we know our bodies are infected when they produce symptoms of fever, chills, body aches, and coughing. Whether the illness is physical or mental, Jesus can heal all of it in the blink of an eye if it’s a miracle that we need. But more often than not, it takes time and hard work on our part. In that case, He’ll help us through the pain of it. (He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3; O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me. Psalm 30:2; More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. Romans 5:3-4)
