The Poisonous Beast

The poisonous beast could be the person with whom you work, the one using her power of persuasion to get you to cover for her rendezvousing while on company time. It could be your friend luring you to the bar or to the strip club. How about the man on a mission to convince you that two can live more cheaply than one, even though you’re not yet married? It could be your family member trying to steal your energy. For many of you, social media is your poisonous beast. How about your church? Yes, there are even poisonous beasts in church contributing to your burn out.

The poisonous beast is that person or thing leading you away from that which God has called you. Heavens, could it be that perhaps the poisonous beast is you? Whatever your situation, poisonous beasts are everywhere, and they use your most prized possessions to entice you.

Eyes – Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways. Psalm 119:37

EarsFor the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions…2 Timothy 4:3

TasteLike newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:2-3

Smell – Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2

TouchTherefore go out from their midst and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; 2 Corinthians 6:17

Put on your armor and bear your swords, you who desire to live a life of significance. When has a poisonous beast ever walked away on its own?
